The King's Award for Voluntary Service

We are honoured and thrilled to receive the KAVS in respect of our wonderful volunteers who go above and beyond to provide the services of our Community Support Scheme. Announced on the King’s birthday, 14th November 2023, the KAVS is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

Covid lockdowns and beyond

We co-ordinated the volunteer response to the Helping Dawlish initiative of supporting the vulnerable, or those shielding, by shopping, medication collections and more. So much was achieved, and volunteers also supported us to do this work by helping with administration, delivering leaflets and raising funds. For more information about what went on in those difficult times, please click here.

You can support us by giving your time as a Volunteer within our projects or as a Trustee, by becoming a member, or by making a donation. Thank you for supporting our work in the community!

******************************************

Assist Teignbridge is a CIO, registered with the Charity Commission (no. 1154936). It was set up to enable Dawlish & East Teignbridge Volunteer Bureau (charity no. 1051265) to change its name and legal form. All the assets and undertakings of the Volunteer Bureau were transferred to Assist Teignbridge on 1 April 2014. The services provided, contact details, staff and management remain as before.

Click here to see our Constitution. It will open in a new window.

The charity's ninth AGM was held in July 2023, and was a celebration of how this charity has coped with ongoing challenges, and how vulnerable people in the community continue to be supported.
Those present heard from the Trustees, the Charity Manager and the Service Co-ordinators how our public benefit aims are being achieved in the community. The Annual Report 2022/23 is available here.

This link will take you to the Charity Commission website. From there if you search using the charity numbers above you can view summary information and the Charity accounts.

Give Your Time

Volunteers make a unique contribution to our organisation and the people they support. Many older people are isolated and lonely. They are very appreciative of volunteers who choose to support them. Having someone to pop in for a chat or to help with a garden they can no longer manage has such a positive impact on their lives. We are always looking for volunteers to help with our projects; no special skills are required, only a willingness to help. Give a gift of your time and get so much more back. Phone our Volunteer Co-ordinator on 01626 888321 for an informal chat.

Membership

This Charity is at the heart of the community, providing a range of services to those in need. You can support us by becoming a member; £5 a year keeps you informed of our activities and your involvement helps ensure that our development is community-led. Complete this form and come in to see us with your cheque!

Trustees

The organisation is overseen by a Board of Trustees, who are all community-minded volunteers. If you are interested in helping us by becoming a Trustee, please telephone the Group Manager on 01626 889288 for more information.
