Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update:

Throughout the pandemic our amazing staff continued to provide essential care services to older people and others in need. Although restrictions have now eased, our staff continue to use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment when with clients, and we continue to follow the latest guidance to keep everyone as safe as possible.

We offer nail cutting support in their own homes to people with healthy feet and healthy toenails who are genuinely unable to manage their own personal footcare. This will usually be older people but examples of other people who would be eligible are:- those with a learning or physical disability, those with a visual or cognitive impairment, people suffering from arthritis or breathlessness.

However, some people should NOT access the service, please check the important information lower down the page on the left.

Your feet must be healthy and your toenails must not be severely thickened or deformed. If you have a corn or callus you can still use our service for nail cutting, but we will not be able to treat the corn or callus. Our practitioners are not qualified podiatrists, although they have received training from an NHS podiatrist.
They are not qualified to undertake anything other than uncomplicated nail cutting.

Our practitioners will treat you in your own home. You will need to purchase the equipment pack from them (cost £8) and then keep it for the practitioner to use each time they visit. Our charges are currently £21 for toenail trimming, and an additional £3 if you would like your fingernails trimmed at the same time. Payment is required at the time of the treatment, either in cash or a cheque payable to Assist Teignbridge.

Please note that a cancellation charge of £5 will be incurred if you cancel a scheduled appointment less than 24 hours before,
and the full cost of £21 will be charged if you cancel on the day.

Assist Teignbridge is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the provision of personal care.

Please call Sophie on 01626 889288 for more information or to book a session. The office is manned Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, except when staff are out on visits. Please leave your name and number on our answerphone and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

We have received some wonderful feedback from our users, who are extremely satisfied with the professionalism of our practitioners and the standards of care we provide. Comments include:

“Taken away stress and worry of a very difficult task”
“Regular visits have made a tremendous difference to my feet and I look forward to the visits”

“My feet was so badly affected by the need for nail trimming that it was very uncomfortable to walk, what an improvement after the nail trimming”

Nail Trimming Clinic Sessions

We pride ourselves on a personal service and recognise that many people feel vulnerable about having strangers in their home. We decided to offer the local community the option of receiving treatments at an accessible central venue.

With the support of Dawlish Town Council, we ran a Nail Clinic every other month at the Manor House, Dawlish. It was by appointment, it was not just a drop-in.

The clinics had to stop whilst there were restrictions, and they have not yet re-started.

Please telephone 01626 889288 if you would like to register an interest.

Please Support our Charity!

We need volunteers for community activities, and Trustees to help with the running of the organisation.

We make a charge for some of our services, but in keeping these as low as possible we do still rely on grant aid and donations from our supporters. Click here to find out how to make a donation or otherwise help us financially.
